Lennart Woltering works as a Scaling Catalyst for the International Maize and Wheat Research Center (http://www.CIMMYT.org), based in Mexico City. This is a joint position with the German Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ). In this position he helps scientist and development practitioners scale the impact of their work in a lasting and transformative way. Passionate about translating academic research findings into practical application, he developed the Scaling Scan (https://www.cimmyt.org/scaling-scan-a-simple-tool-for-big-impact/) tool that helps users quickly identify bottlenecks and opportunities for scaling. It builds on his publications on shifting mindsets around scaling from “reaching many” to sustainable systems change.

Lennart chairs the Agriculture and Rural Development working group on scaling, a community of more than a hundred donors, scientists and development experts.
