Frank Place is a Senior Advisor with the International Food Policy Research Institute.  Between 2014-2021, he worked for the Policies, Institutions, and Markets (PIM) CGIAR Research Program as a leader of impact assessment and then as director. Previously, he worked for the World Agroforestry Center in Nairobi, Kenya for more than 20 years on issues related to property rights, soil fertility and adoption and impact of agroforestry practices.  Prior to that he worked on land tenure studies in African smallholder agricultural landscapes at the Land Tenure Center and World Bank. He has a PhD in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988.
