Arshad Sayed is a transformational CEO and global executive with over 25 years of experience leading complex industrial technologies and social impact initiatives from R&D through commercial deployment. His career is defined by “systems thinking” and a commitment to scaling solutions that balance innovation with commercial success and global impact.

 

Professional Background

  • Multilateral Leadership: During a distinguished 13-year tenure at the World Bank, Arshad served as the Country Manager for Mongolia, directing a $1B+ development portfolio spanning renewable energy and economic resilience.
  • Innovation & Scaling: He previously led the World Bank’s Development Marketplace, transforming a $3M fund into a globally recognized platform for identifying and scaling grassroots social innovations.
  • Corporate & Private Sector: Arshad has held senior leadership roles at Fortune 250 companies, including serving as Managing Director at Rio Tinto, where he created a $300M technology investment portfolio generating 20%+ returns.
  • Global Health & Tech: As CEO of SystemOne, he scaled nanotechnology-enabled diagnostic platforms across 14 countries, strengthening health systems through digital disease surveillance solutions.
  • Environmental Justice: As CEO of Climate Action Systems, he launched the Planet App, a platform connecting over 10,000 stakeholders to drive coordinated climate action and clean energy adoption in underserved areas.
